Objective
The main objective is to gain access to know- how and expertise in super plastic forming (SPF) technology developed by Beijing Research Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Technologies (BRIMET). This technology could be of great importance for EU industries in the coming years. In the field of super plastic forming, the research in EU countries is particularly weak. This is because that although some EU institutes dedicated substantial efforts in the 1970s and 1980s, the research activities were gradually reduced due to lack of interests of industries. The most recent advances achieved in us and China makes commercial application of SPF technology promising. The expected final result is introduction of SPF of A1 alloys to automotive industry for building light car body with lower costs and shorter Time-To-Market.
