Towards the networking of European freight villages

Exploitable results

The main goals of the FREIA project have been : - To improve the commercial options of transport SME´s in the intermodal market. - To improve the accessibility of the European freight villages and their related networks for transport SME´s - These main goals have been operationalised in the subgoals defined for each of the 5 workpackages: - to organize four regional user groups involving Intermodal transport parties and transoport SME´s in order to analyse, - monitor and disseminate knowledge about the barriers and opportunities of intermodal transport - to develop a transparent classification system of the existing freight villages facilities, services and information systems of - relevance for transport SME´s - to identification of SME`s requirements for intermodal transport facilities. Securing via questionaires to 150 transport - SME´s located inside or close to the terminals a coherent evaluation of the freight villages capacities - to identify the key elements in the information flow needed by SME´s for having access to intermodal transport systems. - A model for a freight village information system should be developed. - to provide transparent information connected to the inter-modal transport chain, by making available the first common - guide to European inter-modal freight villages at the Internet.
