Objective
Alternative drying of leather. "Fratelli Carlessi"-type drying using a hot-air circulation system with steam of 150°C, 290KW, 500kg/Hr has been employed so far. The project is aimed at achieving equal or better quality of drying at a lower temperature using less energy. According to the orderer Wertleder, the highest quality is realized when drying is done in the range of life temperature (30-40°C). The use of energy is to be optimized by heat recovery.
Output : 216 hides, 3.5kg water per hide in 6 hours.
The leather drying plant is still under construction. Results cannot be given until the start of the test stage.
The alternative solution comprises :
- Putting the hot air circulation system and the heat exchangers with the medium steam out of operation. - Using a recirculating ventilation system with 15000 m³/hr. An external duct system ensures a turbulent flow through the gaps between the hides stretched over frames. Conditioning of the air is done in a compact air conditioner with the designation HÖLTA 503 which is arranged on the face of the dryer.
- Conditioning units : reverse air filter EU 4, countercurrent plate heat exchanger, evaporator, drop collector, condensate trough, radial fan, preheater in the plate heat exchanger, postheater in the condenser and electric start heater. The compact air conditioner has a complete integrated refrigerating plant. Fan and compressor are fixed in a vibration-reduced manner. The condenser output of the refrigerating plant has to be 1.3 times the evaporator output. Therefore, an additional water-cooled plate exchanger is integrated into the compact air conditioner as a second condensation stage. The cooling-water circuit is externally recooled via a water-air cooler. A valve reversing gear is used to heat the hall with the heat released.
The switch cabinet is integrated into the compact air conditioner.
