ENERGY SAVING IN GLASS PRODUCTION BY USE OF OLD PICTURE TUBE GLASS

Objective

Energy saving by introduction of a new raw material (ecoram) consisting of broken upgraded old mixed TV glass for the production of new cone glass. This includes also the introduction of a new cone glass, which allows normal raw materials to be replaced by ecoram.
The expected results are :
* reduction energy consumption in cone glass production up to 11% bu using
cullet till 80%.
* reduction of CO2 emission up to 19%.
* reduction lead emission in flue glass.
* reduction of dumping of lead containing old TV glass.

Cone glass for TV sets is produced in a continuous furnace. The following innovations have to be made to the existing process during this project:
* introduction of a new cone glass.
* engineering, construction and installation of a special hopper to store and dose the ecoram in the mixing room.
* construction of press tools for the new type of cone.
