EFFICIENT GAS TURBINE GENERATOR

Objetivo

Generators of less than 100 kW represent a very important market. They are used as standby or as main electricity generators and are mainly installed in buildings in highly populated areas such as hospitals, work places etc. Currently these generators are driven by diesel engines and it is well known that the exhaust gases do not meet pollution standards. This situation could get even worse in the future.

The GETAG project aimed to build a generator of less than 100 kW which would not be driven by a diesel motor but by a compact and light, non polluting gas turbine. It used a proven design which is easy to build, to run and to maintain. This generator was tested in real conditions at three typical sites based in three countries of the EU. The GETAG consortium which will develop this technology is composed of six partners, coming from 5 different countries (F, I, UK, E, GR).

There are a number of potential benefits to Europe from this technology:
- a reduction in the atmospheric pollution in urban environments of up to 10 times less than with diesel engines while respecting European norms, both current and future.
- potential for a very important world-wide market with the equipment being produced in Europe, thus creating jobs and furthering technological development.
- the GETAG Technology is well adapted for electricity generation of the future.
