Water quality monitoring is disorganised within the Beirut Water Board (OEB). Public health is threatened, particularly in Beirut. The aim is to allow the Water Analysis Laboratory of the OEB to monitor resources and carry out surveillance of the quality of water that is distributed.
In the short term, the Greater Lyon Water Department in France and the Moroccan National Drinking Water Office (ONEP) will coordinate their efforts to define the procedures, management and training required for the operation of this laboratory, to strengthen its capacities and support its renovation. Within an international professional network, and with this support, the OEB laboratory should be able, in the mid-term, to recover the efficiency which is essential to public health and the sustainability of resources in Beirut.
