Objective
The research covers two major areas: lasers and non-linear optics (LNO); and non-local hydrodynamic transport and fluctuations (NLHF). Concerning LNO, two subjects will be investigated from a fundamental point of view: the amplification and lasing without inversion (ALWI),and the weakly multimode lasers (WML).
Concerning ALWI the major goal will be to find a universal form of amplification condition for a multilevel system and to conduct a fully quantum mechanical analysis in order to derive a master equation and to determine the relative role of coherent and incoherent pumping in the process of ALWI.
For WML the specific purposes are to determine via dynamical measurements the phase nonreciprocity and to investigate the nature of new types of nonstationary regimes which this nonreciprocity implies in ring lasers and to develop multimode phase-sensitive models of semiconductor lasers. The investigation will clarify the mechanism of inversionless gain and will provide a way to the solution of some controversies of laser dynamics to define some laser parameters from the dynamic behavior.
Concerning NLHF, two connected problems will be treated: nonlocal hydrodynamic transport and non linear fluctuations in a plasma. The first problem will allow the study of the domain of validity of the Onsager's reciprocity relations in constrained systems. A generalized Balescu-Lenard collision integral will be derived and will be used for the study of fluctuations, excitation spectrum and dynamic form factor of a non ideal plasma. For the second problem, a general exact integral equation for plasma fluctuations will be obtained. This equation includes generalized miscroscopic dielectric function (GMDF). It will be used to describe plasma wave trapping in plasma inhomageneities.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
