Objective
The major objectives of the project are:
a) the development, optimisation and construction of the cradle for installation of HMPID on ALICE;
b) the development and construction of the system for storing and protecting the CsI photocathodes (PCs) during handling and mounting on the HMPID.
A dedicated High Momentum Particle Identification (HMPID) system, consisting of single arm CsI-RICH based Cherenkov detector has been designed to identify charged particles (p, K and p) in the Pt interval 2 - 5GeV/c on the ALICE installation at CERN.
The important part of the detector system is the support cradle on which HMPID will be installed. The cradle will be fixed on the top of the ALICE space frame and should provide the best experimental conditions for the HMPID operation.
The system for storing and protecting the CsI photocathodes is the necessary element of the HMPID and should provide the high stability of quantum efficiency of the CsI photocathodes (PCs) as function of time.
The research activity of the project includes the following tasks:
T1.1 Optimisation of final geometry and layout of HMPID in ALICE detecto;
T1.2 Calculation of mechanical rigidity and tolerances of the cradle and HMPID construction elements;
T1.3 Construction, assembly and test of the cradle for HMPID;
T2.1 Development of the system for storing and protecting the CsI PCs during its handling and mounting on HMPID module;
T2.2 Construction and test of the system for storing and protecting CsI PCs.
The completion of the project will make it possible to start the assembling and commissioning of the HMPID in ALICE.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
