Objectif This project represents an empirically based investigation into female entrepreneurship in Ukraine, Moldova and Uzbekistan. The project aims to:- to describe the nature and extent of female entrepreneurship in relation to their role in economy and society in Ukraine, Moldova and Uzbekistan- to identify barriers impeding and factors enabling female entrepreneurship in Ukraine, Moldova and Uzbekistan;- to gain greater understanding of the role of female entrepreneurs during the transformation towards a market-based economy in an attempt to assess the current and potential role of female entrepreneurs in economic and social development in transition economies;- to research and evaluate selected support measures for (women) entrepreneurs in Ukraine, Moldova and Uzbekistan in terms of their appropriateness, effectiveness and impact from the standpoint of female entrepreneurs, in the context of international experience with this type of initiative.The key tasks to be completed are:- a review of key literature with respect to female entrepreneurs in mature market economies and transition countries, including existing evidence and data on female entrepreneurship in Ukraine, Moldova and Uzbekistan- designing an empirical survey;- a quantitative survey of up to 690 female and 200 male entrepreneurs in Ukraine, Moldova and Uzbekistan to describe the nature and extent of female entrepreneurship;- case studies with female entrepreneurs in order to identify constraints at the micro level and to assess their contribution to transition;- evaluation of selected support measures to check for their comprehensiveness and effectiveness from the standpoint of female entrepreneurs;- national reports and a final comparative report.Expected results will include:- an analysis of the current nature and extent of female entrepreneurship in Ukraine, Moldova and Uzbekistan and its potential contribution to transition;- an analysis of main constraints and opportunities for female entrepreneurs;- an evaluation of the value of selected support measures and policy instruments to support (women) entrepreneurs in Ukraine, Moldova and Uzbekistan.
