Objective
Project is directed to solve one of the most important problems of modern oceanography, e.g. to study such natural hazard as freak wave. The following problems will be solved:
- Investigation of the metocean condition of freak wave generation, taking into account weather features, current speed distribution, bottom bathymetry, wind wave generation scenarios;
- Physical explanation of freak wave generation as a result of ocean wave modulation in non-uniform current and dispersive focusing of initially phase modulated by a variable wind wave trains;
- Creation of the mathematical model describing freak wave development;
- Numerical simulation of freak wave generation and evolution;
- Development of the stochastic model of freak wave appearance and estimation of risk of the phenomena for ships and offshore units;
- Elaboration of practical recommendation for ship's navigation.
We believe that high professionally level and knowledge of the project teams is the warranty of the successful problem solution.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
