Current problems in numerical astrophysics

CORDIS provides links to public deliverables and publications of HORIZON projects.

Links to deliverables and publications from FP7 projects, as well as links to some specific result types such as dataset and software, are dynamically retrieved from OpenAIRE .

Exploitable results

The scientific teams both from western and eastern Europe as well as other institutes, will start a collaborative effort in the field of numerical astrophysics. Such a field occupies a central place in modern astrophysics and it is steadily growing. The topics covered by numerical astrophysics comprise the full range of outstanding astronomical problems. Thus the collaboration is likely to grow from an initial, well-chosen set of problems into a vast scientific endeavour. The topics to be studied are: gravitational collapse of evolved stars; thermonuclear explosion of electron degenerate stellar cores; mass-accretion onto compact cores; and merging of stellar objects.
