Current problems in numerical astrophysics

Objective

The scientific teams both from western and eastern Europe as well as other institutes, will start a collaborative effort in the field of numerical astrophysics. Such a field occupies a central place in modern astrophysics and it is steadily growing. The topics covered by numerical astrophysics comprise the full range of outstanding astronomical problems. Thus the collaboration is likely to grow from an initial, well-chosen set of problems into a vast scientific endeavour.

The topics to be studied are: gravitational collapse of evolved stars; thermonuclear explosion of electron degenerate stellar cores; mass-accretion onto compact cores; and merging of stellar objects.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
