Introduction to the Tatar language: comprehensive grammar, texts and glossary

Objective

In the last few years new political developments have led to a new self-confidence among the Tartars and Bashkirs which is fed by economic interests these two republics have awakened among European and American government and industrial circles. In the light of this the project aims to write separate manuals of the Tartar and Bashkir languages, each containing a comprehensive grammar, exercises, dialogues, authentic texts and a glossary. In addition, a comprehensive grammar enabling the learner to cope with different types of common texts and contemporary literature will be produced for each language. There are currently no adequate language teaching materials for Tartar or Bashkir.

Based on an established set of the special written characters, a general introduction to both languages, the collection of a large corpus of authentic texts, and finally eight cassettes of spoken language and traditional music, additional dialogues and drills, will be prepared for both Tartar and Bashkir languages.
