Optimization of cumene production over Fe-containing zeolite catalysts

Objective

The aim of this research project is to select optimal catalysts and operating conditions for the selective production of cumene.

Several Fe-containing zeolite materials with various structures will be synthesized: ZSM-5 (MFI), ZSM-11 (MEL), Beta (BEA), ZSM-12 (MTW), Mordenite (MOR) and Faujasite Y type (FAU). Their structural, morphological, acidic and sorptive properties will be studied using modern physicochemical techniques: X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, temperature-programmed desorption of ammonia, and electron spin resonance spectroscopy.

The activity and selectivity of the catalysts in benzene alylation with propylene will be then investigated using a continuous flow fixed-bed reactor and correlated with their structural
