Models for the decay of highly excited nuclei

Objective

The dissipation of energy deposited in a target nucleus by various projectiles, in particular protons and antiprotons, will be studied in the framework of the intranuclear cascade model. The strange particle production and the distribution of the eventually thermalised residual nuclei over mass and charge numbers, excitation energy, linear and angular momentum will be evaluated. For the subsequent fission dynamics of heavy residues and light particle evaporation Langevin dynamics will be used with an initial distribution of the dynamical parameters obtained from the cascade calculation.

The model will yield the velocity distribution of all emitted particles and light fragments in coincidence with fission fragments. From comparison with corresponding experimental information the thermodynamic and transport properties of hot nuclei shall be inferred.

Additional information on the time scale of fission will be derived from calculating the Lambda attachment probabilities to the fission fragments of hyperonic fission events.
