Pan-European network on flow, turbulence and combustion

Objective

The objective of the European Research Community on Flow, Turbulence and Combustion (ERCOFTAC) network is to promote co-operation and exchange of scientific and technological know-how between research institutions, universities and industries performing advanced research in flow, turbulence and combustion and in high-performance computing for complex flow simulations. The members of ERCOFTAC are research groups from academic, governmental or industrial institutions actively engaged in the advancement of knowledge and applications of flow, turbulence and combustion. Flow, turbulence and combustion are essential to a large part of the industrial world. Numerical simulations and modelling of complex physical laws are essential tools.

ERCOFTAC membership is open to research institutes and industries from Western Europe countries. Since 1992, ERCOFTAC has made considerable efforts to encourage research groups from Central and east European countries and the NIS to become corresponding members, free of charge. Moreover, ERCOFTAC makes available scholarships which can be used to invite scientists from these countries to participate in ERCOFTAC activities.

ERCOFTAC has formed a network of information flow and collaboration between research institutions and industries through pilot centres, a regional network of advanced research institutes active in research and development on problems in flow, turbulence and combustion, and through special interest groups, a complementary network interconnecting members in particular subject areas or particular topics.

This project will establish a scientific network with NIS countries enabling ERCOFTAC to expand and strengthen its contacts with these countries. As a result, the dissemination of information on research between ERCOFTAC members and research groups in NIS countries will be improved.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
