Sciences and techniques for cultural heritage

Objective

This project has three main aims: to extend the PACT network (European network for Sciences and Techniques applied to Cultural Heritage) to the universities and research institutions of the NIS. A questionnaire will be sent to relevant colleagues and the answers recorded in a computerised programme File-Maker-Pro. This register will complete the existing west European register on the same software and introduce electronic publishing and digitised image recording for the preparation of global scientific reports on the many unknown sites and the work done there.

This will lead to high-quality tourism and to excellent publication tools where up to now only poorly legible illustrations are published. CD-ROM and CD-I techniques will be used to transfer these tools and organise a major conference of all NIS researchers in the field of Sciences and Techniques applied to Cultural Heritage.

This conference would produce an overview in the form of a PACT volume which will make Eastern research known in the West and allow partners to build up contacts with each other.

The objective is to make optimum use of existing materials of East and West in a new efficient technology, which requires both didactic (software) and technical knowledge, and then diffuse this knowledge to the general and specialised public rather than create new archives. A tool will thereby be created for cultural tourism.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
