Squeezed light from super-radiant laser in optical imaging

Objective

The subject of this research project belongs to a branch of quantum optics which has been developing very rapidly in recent years. Squeezed states of light is the key concept in this area which has both theoretical interest and novelty and many potential applications in optical communications, high-precision optical measurements, and optical information processing.

The research French, German and Russian groups have been playing an important role in this area of quantum optics from its very beginning. The collaboration project between these three groups will take place in two main topics originated within these groups: further development of a theory of a super-radiant laser and amplifier and investigation of their quantum noise properties, and transverse and longitudinal spatial effects in squeezing; spatial squeezing and quantum noise reduction in optical images and the longitudinal spatial effects by propagation of squeezed light through a non-linear medium.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
