Exploitable results
The developed methods and procedures for RNA hybridization on biological "microchips" bearing a matrix of immobilized oligonucleotides, form a basis for future use of such biological microchips, in particular in gene polymorphism studies and for the needs of medical diagnostics. A number of new methods have also been worked up for preparation of fluorescently labelled RNA samples for hybridization. The procedures developed for all experimental stages were shown to be sufficiently reliable and reproducible, starting from manufacturing of gel microchips and finishing with detection of changes occurring in the tested RNA samples. The designed pack of computer programs was successfully used for monitoring and automation if the hybridization process and for the final processing of experimental results.
