Logic and information systems

Objective

This project will co-ordinate scientific collaboration between, on the one hand, Western European universities and, on the other hand, three universities and three research centers in the NIS. Joint research will include particular topics in the development and analysis of formalisms for treating complexity, time and uncertainty constraints related to information processing, in particular, to data and knowledge bases and to symbolic computations. The subjects of research will be based on recent work of the participants. Possible implications for applications in software development will be also considered.

Collaboration between researchers and facilities for hard- and software of organizations in the NIS will be enhanced. Most participants from the NIS will travel to Western Europe to attend seminars and conferences and carry out joint research with their partners. They will also advise on the upgrading of the facilities. Participants from Western Europe will continue their scientific collaboration with organizations in the NIS.

Scientific worshops will be organized for exchanges of results and co-ordination of the project.
