CORDIS provides links to public deliverables and publications of HORIZON projects.

Links to deliverables and publications from FP7 projects, as well as links to some specific result types such as dataset and software, are dynamically retrieved from OpenAIRE .

Exploitable results

This co-operative research project aims at establishing a link among two Russian laboratories and the European Network on 'Vibrational dynamics at surfaces, overlayers and thin films '.This project will cover two important areas not represented in the Network project: firstly, the theory of nonlinear optical response of inhomogeneous semiconductor structures, namely semiconductor surfaces, semi-conductor overlayers on various substrates, various overlayers on semiconductor substrates and metal-semiconductor contacts. This research will be carried out by the A. F. Ioffe Institute in St. Petersburg, in collaboration with the Dipartimento di fisica, università degli studi di Milano in Italy. The theoretical work will be of interest to this group, while the applications concerning the hyper-Raman scattering and second harmonic generation will be of interest to other experimental teams of the Network; and secondly, the theory of electron-phonon interaction at surfaces and of quantum diffusion phenomena at metal surfaces. This research will be carried out by the Kurchatov Institute in Moscow. The theoretical study will be carried out in co-operation with the theoretical groups in Milano and in Goetingen. The Network will investigate the dynamics of surface overlayers, ultrathin films and surface defects by means of different and complementary spectroscopies. Experimental results will be converted into useful information on surface structures and interactions through the theoretical analysis based on first-principle methods or advanced models for surface dynamics.
