Objective
The purpose of this research is the identification of frame conditions for survival under market conditions. The research will include different natural conditions and different farm sizes, for example refounded family farms as well as restructured state farms and co-operatives. The optimal adjustments of farms relate to entrepreneurship and management, to capital markets, distribution of property, factor and product markets and to the subjective future expectations of farmers. The research will mainly be based on questionnaires on 50 farms in Russia.
The research project has two main focuses. The first emphasis is given to an empirical analysis of developing obstacles to farm firms during the transformation process. The second emphasis is given to a normative model of classified groups of the above 50 farms and the derivation of necessary measures for agricultural and environmental policy.
