Anomalous diffraction effects in photorefractive crystals

Objective

The aim of this project is the experimental and theoretical investigation of a range of anomalous diffraction effects in photorefractive crystals, anomalous in the sense that they are not described by the usual theories and that they occur under rather unexpected conditions.

A major part of the study will be concerned with the generation of subharmonics which may, in principle, be due to two quite different effects: the instability of the grating, and the amplification of a seed beam. In addition, it will deal with the recording of gratings by mutually incoherent beams, beam interactions in the so-called 'forbidden' configurations, and forward beam interactions with three input waves.

The experiments will be supported by theoretical models which will be evaluated by analytical and/or numerical calculations.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
