Aerospace probing of the Mayatsk archaeological complex

Objective

This project is based on aerospace probing of the Mayatsk archaeological complex, the largest Khazarian site of the 8th-10th century A.D. in the Middle Don basin along the frontier with Kievan Rus.

The objects to be processed are images, photos and aerospace images with two levels of luminance (black/white), and semitone images, such as TV-images. The complexity of image processing systems is governed by the requirements of size of an array for the system memory and by the necessary speed of operation. Progress in personal computers based on micro-computers has given rise to the possibility of creating image processing systems based on a PC of standard complexity as a working tool for archaeological researchers.

With the basic materials, aerospace images, and access to top-quality digital computer processing archaeological sites already known can be identified. On the basis of data obtained new archaeological sites will be investigated. Results of laboratory work in archaeological research can be checked. Complete scientific reports of the methodology and results obtained will be prepared for publication.
