Electromagnetic wave scattering from non-equilibrium magnetized plasmas

Livrables

In this two years of cooperation, significant developments have been obtained in the fields of scattering theory and experiments. Theory has included the effect on scattering of dielectric susceptibility renormalization by macroscopic motion; and as reflectometry scattering is concerned, it has been concluded on the weak localization of the observed fluctuations. On the experimental side, nice convincing results were obtained in Russia, Bielorussia and Germany on the "enhanced scattering" new radar method for localized observations of small scale density fluctuations in magnetized plasmas, utilizing backscattering in the vicinity of the upper hybrid resonance. The correlation modification of enhanced scattering diagnostics was also proposed and tested. The magnetic turbulence in tokamak plasmas was studied using cross polarization scattering diagnostics. New schemes of this diagnostics were proposed possessing better spatial and wave number resolution.
