Objective
Strong conductors will be developed for use in high-field magnets. For these magnets it is important to obtain materials with high mechanical strength (above 1 GPa) combined with good conductivity,70% of the conductivity of pure copper. To this end, a new and promising route is to develop microcomposites based on Cu-Nb-Ag alloys. Extensive efforts will be made to characterise the materials and use these results as feedback to the manufacturing process.
The partners in the project have experience in the development and characterisation of micro-filamentary conductors and in the design and construction of high-performance magnets. This combination of expertise in industrial-scale production of micro-filament conductors and quality control, together with design, test and analysis capabilities, is unique in Europe and provides a good basis for the development of high-strength conductors in particular and for the development of European high-magnetic field facilities in general.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
