Decontamination of exhaust gases and sewage water by chemically modified inorganic ion exchangers and active carbons

Résultats exploitables

Results were obtained on the synthesis of porous inorganic ionites and composite carbon-mineral adsorbents on the basic of titanium and zirconium phosphates, hydroxophosphates, silicates and alumina-phosphosilicates. Their porous structure and ion exchange properties were studied. The materials synthesised especially modified samples (adsorption of heteropolyacids, deposition titanate-silicates in pore of active carbons) have a high affinity towards ions of heavy metals and radioisotopes of Cs and Sr. Experimental procedures for the preparation of active carbons from fruit stones and polycondensated resins were developed. The methods of modification provide the introduction N and P heteroatoms in the structure of active carbon, oxidation of surface and preparing so-called oxidised carbons with wide distribution of protonogenic functional groups, and immobilisation of bioligands (amino acids, proteins) on surface of oxidised carbons. Preliminary characterisation of sorption and ion exchange capacities of these new materials has been made. Some data were obtained for the application of new inorganic and carbonaceous materials as adsorbents and catalysts to purify the various water and gaseous media. Results were obtained for the removal of mercury and phenol and their derivatives from industrial solutions and sewage water, catalytic oxidation of CO in exhaust gases by Pd-containing porous inorganic supports and gas-phase oxidation of H2S by oxygen of air in the presence carbonaceous adsorbents modified by transitional metal ions.
