Objective
This research project will have both theoretical and practical objectives. The phenomenon of region as an established community possessing its own economic, cultural, natural distinguishing features and hence asserting its peculiar political, social, economic and other interests, will be analyzed.
The study will examine the following areas: the region within the framework of the modern state, political status, economic possibilities andcultural openings; the region in different political systems, Unitarian states and federations, republics and monarchies; the problem of regional diversity and interregional compatibility; the admitted limits of regional divergence in every possible dimension; the stability of region and stability of state, collation of prerequisites, conditions and priorities; the integrity of region and wholeness of state; centrifugal potential of region and its components, historical, ethnic, geographical and ideological; the region within the context of international and transnational contacts; and the geopolitical meaning of regionalism.
