Objectif
The objective is to develop methods for the restoration of destroyed art monuments on the principal basis of the synthesis of the restorer's experience, the achievements in the fields of physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer facilities and knowledge in the history of arts. As the subject for research the frescoes of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Saviour in Kovalevo (Novgorod, Russia), badly damaged during the Second World War will be used.
The success of such work will demonstrate an opportunity for real compatible (instead of simple parallel) work by the representatives of different kinds of science and culture.
Research will be conducted in the following directions:
Development of the information selection and processing criteria for storage:
Development of a technique for specimen measurements and information readings.
The development of an information structure for data storage.
Filling of a database by the real information pursuant to developed criteria.
Creation of an automated restorer's working place
Determination of criteria for combining chips.
The development of the chips combining algorithms.
Evaluation of the algorithms on a model database.
The development of an experimental interactive hardware-software complex for solving of the delivered problem.
Evaluation of developed technology on real objects.
The results of the research will be reproduced in the form of articles in scientific journals, as well as the developed experimental specimen of the hardware-software complex for the solution of restoration problems on image fragments.
