Compilers and Programming Environments for Parallel Computers

Objective

This project addresses the design and implementation ofprogramming environments for networks of workstations anddistributed memory parallel computers. To achieve this goal theproject will focus on the design of portable and retargetabletools for program analysis and transformations as well asportable programming interfaces that extend current limitationsof the HPF.1 language. Fine grain (intra processor) and coarsegrain (across processors) parallelism will be considered toachieve a high level of performance. Complex applicationsprograms will be used to design and validate the programmingenvironments. Designing the Fortran DVM programming environmentimplies to develop specific compiling strategies for network ofworkstation that take into account the memory hierarchy inside anode (a workstation) and the network links between them.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
