Objective
The scientific goal of the project is to investigate theoretically the stellar evolution leading to thermonuclear supernovae, to obtain a successful supernova explosion model, to confront the theory with observational data on spectra, light curves and statistics of type Ia supernovae, and to compare the nucleosynthesis yields computed from thermonuclear supernova models with available observed abundances of the chemical elements.
The research to be carried out in the project includes development of sophisticated codes for computations of stellar evolution, of hydrodynamics of nuclear flames, of non-equilibrium radiative transfer for light curves and spectra, of collecting the observational data on supernova outbursts, and of comparison of theoretical predictions with real events.
The theoretical results will be presented at international scientific meetings and will be published in scientific journals. The observational data will be made available in scientific publications and on the Internet as well as new numerical tools developed in the project.
