Objective
Thus the purpose of the proposal is the theoretical study of electromagnetic processes such as pair production, photon-photon and photon-nucleus interactions, Coulomb excitations and other higher order effects in the collision of relativistic and ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions. The main focus will be on such an effects as nuclear finite-sizes and finite-temperature effects, especially in higher order processes. Also, specific effects as the electronic structure of the colliding ions, and Coulomb corrections to the pair production cross section will be also studied. Investigations will be carried out in close collaboration between all the participating groups. Numerical computations will be performed by NIS team members during their visits to the INTAS teams institutes. The final result of the investigations will be the calculation of the quantities, which are of importance for the experiments at heavy ion colliders at GSI, CERN and BNL.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
