Development of Science Based Technologies for the Production of New Steel Alloys Using Local Raw Materials Containing Molybdenum, Tungsten and Chrome.

Objective

The project is focused on the development and investigation of new Cr-Mo and Cr-Ni–W steels. The ferrochrome produced from Uzbekistan raw materials will be used for fusion of new Cr-Mo and Cr-Ni–W steels. Electrodes and technologies of arc welding, build-up and repair welding of the new obtained steels will be developed.
The structural, mechanical, corrosion, and electrochemical properties of the obtained new materials will be investigated.
1. In order to achieve the goals the following activities are planned:
- Substantiation of a raw-material basis of Uzbekistan for manufacturing ferro-alloys and alloyed steels.
- Development of production technology of ferrochrome from local raw materials.
- Development of production technology of new Cr-Mo and Cr-Ni-W steels with use of local raw material;
- Development of production technology of casting new Cr-Mo and Cr-Ni-W steels;
- Development of technology of thermal processing of new Cr-Mo and Cr-Ni-W steels;
- Development of electrodes and technologies of arc welding, build-up and repair welding of the new Cr-Mo and Cr-Ni-W steels.
2. The following results are expected:
- Recommendations on use of local mineral ores of raw material for manufacturing cheap steels, ferroalloys and electrodes for arc and build-up welding;
- New technology of production of ferrochrome from local raw materials;
- New "know-how" of import-replacing and export-oriented Cr-Mo and Cr-Ni-W steels, ferro-alloys, and also electrodes for arc and build-up welding.
3. The practical value of the expected project results will consist in the following:
- Maintenance of a national economy of the Republic Uzbekistan with cheap new Cr-Mo and Cr-Ni-W steels, ferro-alloys and electrodes for arc and build-up welding;
- Creation of "know-how" by new principles for the development approaches of new components, ferro-alloys and electrodes.
4. The novelty of the proposed project consists in:
- the establishment of new technological laws in the field of primary crystallization, formation of primary and secondary structure, formation of hot cracks in the hardened metal;
- the establishment of new technological laws of the metallurgical processes proceeding at cast of new Cr-Mo and Cr-Ni-W steels with use of local raw material;
- new development principles of new electrodes.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
