DATA BASE ON INFORMATION SYSTEMS STANDARDS AND METHODOLOGIES AND INITIAL ACTIONS FOR TRAINING AND DISSEMINATION

Exploitable results

The project was originally promoted by an International Organisation known as the Conferencia de Autoridades IBeroamericanas de Informatica (CAIBI). It has provided the informatics governmental authorities of 21 countries with a documentary tool for international standards and national methods. This tool has generated subsequent actions regarding training, awareness and dissemination of these matters in public management, education, industry and all sectors concerned. Also, the establishment of a means of diffusion of the standards and policies developed in the EC/European Community to facilitate the technological interchange with Latin America. The documentary database (named IBST) developed, contains the main standards, methodologies and related reference materials regarding the whole life cycle of Information Systems, accessible on line and openly through the Internet/world wide web (WWW). The organization of this database (IBST) has allowed training courses and orientation sessions to be developed in many Latin American countries. The IBST database has been built as a set of HTML pages using WWW technology and the INTERNET as the medium for dissemination.
