Objective
APPETISE seeks to develop tools, which will support environmental management decision-making associated with air quality problems. Such decision-making must be made on the basis of the best available advice if stakeholders are to be convinced that they too can contribute to solving these problems. APPETISE will develop novel statistical methods applied to data mining and statistical modelling of air pollution in a range of European settings. With partners contributing data from their own region, the consortium will be able to test techniques for robustness.
Objectives:
To share air quality, meteorological and road traffic data, from diverse European environments, amongst the partner organisations;
To develop, robustly test and compare results from novel statistical modelling methods with results from established deterministic methods of modelling air pollutant behaviour;
To develop prototype modelling tools which can be further developed through project clustering activities and subsequent research supported at national levels;
To improve upon the expert advice available for real-time air quality related environmental management decision-making.
Work description:
Submission of data from partners to the project database;
Data Mining and Modelling work, including submission of model results to the project database;
Interim Report;
Model comparison work;
Development of prototype operational modelling tools.
