Objective
The overall objective of the proposal is to provide access to tools and support for design and modelling facilities focused on the domain microfluidics within microsystems, enabling European industry to functionally assess designs before manufacturing, and to decrease costs of development while speeding the development process.
Objectives:
The overall objective of the proposal is to provide access to tools and support for design and modelling facilities, enabling European industry to functionally assess designs before manufacturing and to decrease costs of development while speeding the development process in the microsystems domain. To overcome barriers for access to advanced design and modelling tools by means of setting up a design and modelling support centre. To create, extend, maintain and make available a property database. Support in experimental definition, feasibility studies and assistance during the design and modelling activities of the customers, help services and design services. Enabling re-use of expertise and modelling results by focusing the design and support activities on specific application areas. Increase awareness and dissemination of existing know-how and experience. The objective is that the competence centre microfluidics becomes self funding.
Work description:
In order to create access to the enabling tools and in order to support and disseminate the design and modelling capabilities, the following activities are planned: Setting-up of a service Site and offering assistance in the design process. Hereby making available the knowledge and means for carrying out design studies. Setting-up of a material property database for real micro-chemical component designs. Development of a case studies and design kit (tutorial), as a basis for design assistance services. Manufacture of an electrophoretic enabling demonstrator & measurement of functional properties. Proactive customer acquisition and support. Setting-up and execution of an active dissemination strategy of the offered services.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
