PROmoting Awareness and Communicating Technologies in Education

Objective

PROACTe responds directly to the conclusion of the Commission's Industry Advisory Group on the Information Society on the future direction under FP5 that "dissemination should become a structured activity, consolidating the results of the projects, and disseminating them to a wide audience of professionals and decision makers in the field of education and training".
PROACTe will support, valorise and facilitate the dissemination and take-up activities of these projects and implement actions in support of consensus building between the projects. PROACTe is a web-based service that aims to facilitate access to information and provide a context for European research into technologies to support learning. PROACTe will gather information not only on the issues surrounding the up-take of technologies but also the impact of learning mechanisms on all areas of society.

The site will also be used: for electronic publishing of key publications and deliverables, for providing information on educational technologies in Europe; to create communities and form clustering of projects. The aim is to become a central information resource on all aspects of educational technologies in Europe. The Web will be updated weekly and measures will be implemented to monitor the Web activity.
- Provide a communications service to the projects. This will facilitate exchange of experience between the projects and provide information for the general public. PROACTe will respond to the needs of the project with plans to undertake a wide range of promotional activities.
- Produce printable web-based information sheets on each project. These will be frequently updated.
- Research and write a final report reviewing education and training technologies in Europe.
