Objective
CULTIVATE CEE will extend the European Cultural Heritage Network, already established in the EU, EFTA countries and Israel, to the ten Central and Eastern European Associated States (Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Poland, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia). An accompanying measure to Key Action III - Multimedia Content and Tools of the IST Programme, CULTIVATE CEE will aim to set up nodes with representatives from all the relevant memory institutions and organisations (in particular from archives, libraries and museums) in each of these countries in order to raise awareness and promote the cultural heritage area of IST. OBJECTIVES
Through a variety of means (web pages, interactive web magazine, email information service, etc.) CULTIVATE CEE aims to raise awareness of the IST Programme for the development and use of cultural heritage applications throughout the CEE Associated States, to strengthen involvement and meaningful participation in the programme and to create a pan-European network of cultural heritage nodes.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
CULTIVATE CEE will start its work by the partners establishing cultural heritage nodes in the ten CEE Associated States. They will identify key players and organisations in the library, archive and museum sectors in their own countries and undertake a targeted campaign of information dissemination to stimulate interest and raise awareness. This will lead to the establishment of cultural heritage nodes throughout the CEE Associated States. A training workshop for CEE nodes will take place to provide detailed information on the IST Programme, as well as on the role of the cultural heritage nodes. Issues of common interest to CEE Associated States will be addressed e.g. language issues, tailored information, national web site development. The goal is that briefing days and workshops will be held in the CEE countries. Throughout the accompanying measure, there will be continuous co-operation with the EU part of CULTIVATE where joint services will be developed e.g. web site and a web magazine, to which CULTIVATE CEE will contribute and where there are common deliverables.
