Objective
This Accompanying measure is a 34-month programme to establish a pan-European Investment Forum bringing together leading investors, industrialists and advisors with Europe's most promising Information Society Technologies (IST) ventures. The project will facilitate the investment activity of over 750 investors, industrialists and advisors and the fund-raising, partnering and business development activities of over 500 interested IST ventures. To achieve these ambitious objectives, this project will organise five IST Investment Fora and five Venture Academy Workshops. It will provide significant coaching to the interested IST ventures. The proposed programme would therefore contribute in a direct manner to the take-up of European RTD results by facilitating their private fund-raising efforts and contacts.
Objectives:
The project will:
- Promote Investment opportunities to a pre-selected group of 5,000 of Europe's most promising IST ventures;
- Provide feedback to 500 IST ventures replying with interest;
- Coach over 200 IST ventures at one of five IST Investment Workshops;
- Select and prepare over 200 IST ventures for presentation at one of five IST Investment Fora (where they are brought into structured contact with over 750 investors participating in the Fora);
- Organise Seminars alongside the annual IST Conference and Exhibition;
- Obtain in-depth media coverage from more than 15 press partners;
- Raise 1,2 million in private revenue, from sponsorship and participation fees in order to make the programme self-sustaining by the end of the 34 months;
- Help companies raise at least 1 M each as a result of their participation in the Programme.
Work description:
Five Venture Academy workshops and five IST Investment Fora will be organised at 6-monthly intervals during the 34 month life of the programme.
The Venture Academy workshop is a two-day event organised for up to 50 IST ventures where they can gain direct feedback and coaching on their business and fund-raising plans and pragmatic insight into the process of developing and financing a growing innovative venture, and the IST Investment Forum is a two-day event where up to 50 selected IST ventures present their business and fund-raising plans to an audience on average of over 130 investors, industrialists and advisors.
To organise these events seamlessly, the work is broken down into functional activity blocks as follows:
- Developing and updating marketing materials to provide the necessary tools;
- Developing and maintaining the web site to offer all information on-line;
- Marketing to European agencies and SMEs in order to elicit company interest;
- Maintaining the wider database of IST ventures and marketing to at least 5000 IST ventures;
- Reviewing the company and fund-raising profiles of the IST ventures and providing constructive feedback;
- Organising the IST Investment Workshop with some 50 IST ventures;
- Providing person-to-person coaching;
- Marketing the IST Investment Fora to potential investors, advisors and industrialists;
- Building and maintaining relations with 15 press partners that will provide in-depth media coverage of the programme's benefits and success stories;
- Organising the Investment Fora alongside the annual IST Conference and Exhibition or the EMMSEC conferences;- Organising a parallel Seminar programme on the IST venturing and fund-raising processes to promote best practice;
- Evaluating the programme's benefits based on feedback from participating IST ventures and investors, advisors and industrialists.
