Objective
The objective of VISION is to create an Internet-based system to promote rapid Industrial Reconversion and Development in Europe. Industrial Reconversion is a process of crucial importance for many areas around Europe and particularly in the East. Large parts of the continent have seen their traditional industries disappear leaving behind islands of unemployment and social deprivation though, in many cases, peopled by workers of very high qualifications and ability. The aim of VISION is to launch the idea of the Virtual Incubator, a Europe-wide network linking potential Industrial sites, start-ups, Venture Capitalists, Technopoles and Local Authorities. Such network will revolutionise the way Industrial Reconversion is carried out and will dynamise and expedite Industrial Reconversion of sites throughout Europe.
Work description:
The work will create an integrate software system comprising the following modules: - An Intelligent Interface capable of dialoguing with the user in a cooperative manner; - A Central Repository which contains information about users and about their Sites; - A Control Module which can vet in real time information provided and guarantee the observance of rules of privacy; - A Mediation System which can collect information required by the user but available at different sites; - Site Repositories containing data of different kinds and various formats - Auxiliary Tools which will expedite the analysis and administration process. The work will comprise the definition, design and testing of these modules. Importantly, it will also include the use of these modules in four real applications, in the sites of the three end-users.
Milestones:
The work will have five Milestones. These are:
Milestone 1 (Definition of the System Architecture),
Milestone 2 (Creation of Early versions of Software Modules),
Milestone 3 (Evaluation of the first Integrated System),
Milestone 4 (Creation of the final version of all modules) and
Milestone 5 at the end of the project (Evaluation of the VISION system by real application to the creation of a Virtual Incubator)
