Dynamic Networked Infranet-Partners

Objectif

This Best Practice Pilot intends to improve the business practices and methods of work among a group of SMEs from five European countries, the Infranet-Partners. These SMEs are typical for the European marketplace of tomorrow, because they form a virtual organisation. A Best Practice Pilot, the INFRANET-project, which aims at the definition, planning and execution of best practices, will do this. The operative goal of the INFRANET-project is to improve the business practices of the participating user SMEs by adopting an innovative- processes and IT-solutions, which assists the demands of dynamic networked organisations (DNO). Therefore, appropriate methodologies and well-proven tool for a dynamic networked and virtual organisation will be introduced. This will allow cooperation and interoperation between the partners. The INFRANET-project enables distributed project-teams to work together across different and possibly mobile locations.

Objectives:
This Best Practice Pilot has the objectives to improve the cross-organisational business practices of 6 European SMEs, which form a Dynamic Networked Organisation (the Infranet-Partners). The SMEs are typical for the European marketplace of tomorrow. This will be done by a Best Practice Pilot, the INFRANET-project, which aims at the definition, planning and execution of best practices within the scope of Key Action II dynamic networked organisations (II.2.3) and the according objectives. The operative goal is to improve the business practices of the participating user by adopting well proven methodologies and tool-sets for the cross-organisational operation of the Dynamic Networked Organisation.

Work description:
First of all, the requirements have to be defined for the reasonable introduction of processes and tools, which allows the co-operation and the inter-operation between the business partners. This includes a detailed specification of the scope and demands of the technological and methodical requirements. In order to meet the requirements of each user organization the state of the art must be addressed and the upper management has to be committed. The measurement framework will identify potential benefits and associated metrics. In the next step the in-depth planning phase will help to get a detailed plan for the deployment, evaluation and refinement of the DNO-tool and associated practices, including a set of clearly specified milestones spread across the duration of the Pilot. Actual deployment, evaluation, refinement of the Best Practice Pilot (BPP) solution and associated practices will be implemented. The implemented DNO-tool and the designed innovative business processes have to proof their suitability. The solution will be operated and tested along a real life baseline project. Intensive training in organizational (new processes), technical and social issues is necessary in order to guarantee a successful outcome of the BPP. Progress monitoring and evaluation of already noticed benefits and problems leads to the correction and improvement phase. A final assessment helps to evaluate the acquired technological and business benefits. Benefits and lessons learned will be documented in the form of business cases, which will be broadly disseminated.

Milestones:
We expect the following milestones:
* detailed organizational and technical requirements analysis and Best Practice metrics to enable a long-term evaluation of performance as ongoing activity;
* detailed implementation plan;
* running DNO solution: implementation of IT-infrastructure, business processes and re-engineering;
* DNO Best Practice business case.
The milestones are distributed along the execution of the project and mark important results.
