Ubiquitous Web Applications

Objectif

Web sites are evolving from repositories of (mainly) passive information to become complex applications, with operations and, sometimes, transactions available. In addition it is becoming more and more necessary to develop "families of applications", presenting the same content-services to different categories of users in different contexts. Finally web applications are becoming ubiquitous, i.e. available every where, through different devices: workstation, PC's, PDA's, TV (with set-top boxes), telephones (WAP or UMTS), etc.

The objective of the project is to improve the design process for web applications, taking into account all the above elements. The goal is to improve the quality (for the users) of the applications being designed and improved the efficiency of the design and the project will develop a comprehensive methodology, covering all the aspects of design from requirements, down to detailed design; a companion of the methodology will be a set of tools supporting the different aspects of design. The tools will be able to export design documents in XML, allowing interchange of design pieces across the different tools of the project and also with "outside" tools. Two applications (e-commerce and e-banking), for relevant user organisations, will be designed and developed within the project.
