User-friendly E-commerce To Optimise Parking Space

Objective

E-PARKING's main objective is to create a universal and easily transferable e-commerce tool.
The E-PARKING project will develop an analysis of the most appropriate security architecture system required to use a mobile phone or any other device equipped with Bluetooth technology as a method of electronic booking and payment.
The project will research on the generation of an easily deployable system for parking space optimisation.
To this effect, E-PARKING aims at including new user-friendly and safe technologies in the booking and selling process of parking spaces in order to increase competition and productivity in such an important every-day-activity.
In this sense, the project will advance Europe's strength in applying mobile communications and will improve urban and mobility management (e.g. a better usage of scarce resources).
The Consortium will stress its application to other sectors than the parking one (e.g. cinemas, museums, thematic parks, sport & music events, public transport, road & rail & air passenger transport, tolling, ticketing, credit cards and banking).

Objectives:
Long-term objective of E-PARKING is to create a universal and easily transferable e-commerce tool.
Short-term objective is to generate an easy deployable system for parking space optimisation.
The E-PARKING project will develop an analysis of the most appropriate security architecture system needed to use a mobile phone or any other device with Bluetooth technology as a method of electronic booking and payment.
The current situation is that the Bluetooth protocol is not being used for payments, at the end of the project the Bluetooth protocol would have been used at least for the payment process generated by the exploitation of parking lots in one of the main Belgium parking house companies.
To this effect, E-PARKING aims at including new user-friendly and safe technologies in the booking and selling process of parking spaces in order to increase competition and productivity in such an important every-day-activity.

Work description:
E-PARKING will be developed via 6 workpackages (WP) over a period of 24 months:
1) User requirements: development of a common understanding of the system's scope and desired behaviour by exploring scenarios with end-users and domain experts.

2) System specifications: translation of user requirements into a specification that describes the conceptual model of how to implement the system. The requirements will be transformed into a conceptual design and the best software architecture.

3) System development and integration: Software implementation and development of the prototypes that will help to build support for the product by showing something concrete and executable to users, customers, and management of interested organisations. Production of the UML graphics.

4) Deployment and validation: real implementation of the previously defined architecture, system technical verification on small scale pilot and training to users and data collection and preliminary analysis on system usability. System evaluation and evaluation of final results.

5) Dissemination and implementation: guarantees dissemination at national and EU level of the obtained results. Identification of other sectors than parking to commercialise E-PARKING developments and elaboration of business plans.

6) Project Management: defines the overall organisation and assures each partner complies with quality standards.

Milestones:
1. Definition of requirements as a condition or capability to which the system must conform;
2. Analysis of the system;
3. Designed system and implemented software;
4. Deployment of the system;
5. Dissemination activities, market assessment and exploitation plan;
6. Cohesion of the consortium and coherence in the work undertaken.
