Electronic Court: judicial IT-based management

Exploitable results

The e-Court system prototype which will be tested in the two pilot sites (Italy and Poland) is an advanced IT based trial support system to be installed in a law court to improve the collection and storage of all depositions and debates taking place during the hearings or trials. This will allow all professionals involved in the process to further retrieve in a fast and sophisticated way, even in remote mode, all the materials (be they in audio, video or text format) related to the trial. This advanced system is constituted by a set of individual components, which are listed below, and each of which can be considered as an individually exploitable result and as such it will be dealt with in an appropriate part of this document. The e-Court system is composed of the following main components: - Workflow Management Judicial system; - Audio /Video/Text Digital Production and Synchronisation system; - Information retrieval module; - Database Management system; - Web portal system; - Security Management system. As it can be seen from the list above, the e-Court project addresses not only the technological aspects but also the organisational issues (workflow management) and the international judicial cooperation issue (through the WEB portal and the multilingual Facilities which will be embedded in the information retrieval module).
