A SECURE AND TRUSTABLE INTERNET VOTING SYSTEM BASED ON PKI

Objective

The proposal aims at testing a critical tool that will represent a significant value within the emerging services over the Internet. The project is designed to realise an Internet based voting service that will provide users with a tool for expressing their opinion. This project will address the issues of trust and confidence over the Internet by designing, implementing, and testing a secure service. In fact, the voting system relies upon a PKI for its correct operation and will enable demonstrating parties to use digital signature technology and smart cards for voting operations. The proposed voting system will be useful within a range of voting options from polls to different surveys. Studies on the impact of the testing activities will be carried out addressing issues such as users returns on polling activities of geographical!y distributed organisations.
