Objectif
ROADMAP aims to introduce European digital map technology and related IST applications in China and to investigate and increase access to the Chinese market opportunities. The main Project activities include the following:-
- Organising the ROADMAP Seminar in China;
- Carrying out a feasibility study on application of European digital map standards and technologies in China.
Objectives:
ROADMAP aims to introduce European digital map applications in China and to investigate and increase access to the Chinese market opportunities. The specific ROADMAP scientific/technological objectives are to:
- Disseminate European digital map technology and the related IST applications in China through the ROADMAP Seminar;
- Determine the feasibility of a wide implementation of European digital map applications in China through desk research and on-site investigations;
- Inform interested EU companies on the project results and business opportunities in China in the concerned field through the ROADMAP Web Site;
- Prepare joint follow-up projects on digital map standards and applications in China.
ROADMAP will support the interest of the European IST community as a whole. All the events and results of ROADMAP are publicly accessible.
Work description:
The project activities are organised in the following five workpackages:
- WP 1 ROADMAP Seminar;
- WP 2 Feasibility analysis;
- WP 3 Roadmap Web Site;
- WP 4 Assessment and Evaluation;
- WP 5 Project Management.
WP1 deals with the organisation of the 2-day ROADMAP Seminar in China to disseminate and demonstrate European digital map technologies and applications in China. A great number of Chinese decision-makers, end user organisations, research institutes and professional companies will be invited to the Seminar.
WP2 will analyse the political, technical, business and socio-economic feasibility of a wide application of European digital map technologies in China, based on desk research, on-site investigation and interviews with relevant Chinese authorities and other major players.
WP3 will establish and maintain ROADMAP Web Site to:
- Disseminate relevant information on and results of ROADMAP feasibility study;
- Provide information and advice to interested EU companies on market opportunities in China, particularly on Chinese policy, market development trends, legal and regulatory environment for doing business in the concerned field;
- Provide a platform for discussing and defining joint follow-up projects and the corresponding project consortia involving Chinese partners.
WP4 will assess and evaluate success and impacts of ROADMAP activities in two waves. The main activities of WP4 include:
- Defining assessment objectives;
- Defining the baseline case for assessment;
- Defining the measure of success (assessment indicators);
- Carrying out assessment and evaluation analysis and;
- Interaction with the Project Management.
WP5 deals with project management, including technical co-ordination and financial management of the project.

Month 3: Submitting the Project Presentation Plan;
Month 3: Establishing the ROADMAP Web Site;
Month 5: Convening the ROADMAP Seminar;
Month 6: Submitting the Seminar Report;
Month 12: Submitting the ROADMAP Feasibility Study Report;
Month 12: Submitting the Evaluation Report;
Month 12: Submitting the Project Final Report.
