Objetivo
The objectives of the present proposal are the definition of a set of exercises to be used as a standard for home rehabilitation to be applied in the fields of occupational therapy and neurological rehabilitation (Stroke, TBI, Multiple Sclerosis and SCI patients). The definition of the above standards will generate information for the development of a low cost, user friendly activity desk that can be used by patients at home.
The system will allow:- the execution of monitored exercises at home;- data recording during execution;- development of the patient database in order to evaluate patient recovery;- the development of an interactive database continuously updated that can be consulted by clinicians via Internet services.
OBJECTIVES

The definition of the standards willable to develop a low cost-user friendly activity desk that can be used by patients at home. The system will allow: the execution of monitored exercises at home; data recording during execution; development of a database in order to evaluate patient recovery; the development of an interactive database that can be consulted by clinicians via Internet services. The Home Care Activity Desk, H-CAD, represents a bridge toward the patient of a data communication system that will allow: data monitoring (by wire or wireless); data archive management at the level of a central server; data display and analysis.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The specific and technical objectives of the H-CAD project are planned to be achieved by employing the following workplan, which is broken down into 7Workpackages (WPs).
WP1: State of the Art and System Specifications: the objective of this workpackage is that of providing information on the State of the Art dealing with the review of the rehabilitative treatments currently provided to Stroke, TBI, MS and SCI patients. Such information are necessary to collect and define a standard set of rehabilitative exercises currently used in the rehabilitation the functional and technical specifications of the system.
WP2: Technical Development: the design and development of the different components of the H-CAD system will be performed. Two separate parts have been planned: The ""home care activity desk"" related to the development of the remote sensorised system and the ""clinical management software"" which will allow the analysis of the home exercises performed by the patient.
WP3: Clinical trials: the clinical trials will be performed in the two clinical centres involved according to the measurement manual developed WP100. The patient's progress will be evaluated and a comparison of the acquired data will be performed through the intranet system placed in the Web site WP400.
WP4: Dissemination and Implementation. The objectives of this workpackage are to design and develop the Project WEB SITE containing information on the clinical scales used to perform the assessment and with the dissemination activities to be carried out within the Project in order to guarantee a wide Project visibility for scientific and commercial purposes.
WP5: Exploitation plan: dealing with the preparation of a marketing report and of a business plan on the basis of the Consortium Agreement.
WP6: Management It deals with all the management procedures of the project WP7: Assessment and Evaluation. This workpackage deals with the procedures to be impleted in order to obtain a product technically respondent to the functional and technical specifications. Internal and external peered review will be set for the proper assessment and evaluation.
