Objective
By mentoring IST multipliers IST-Mentor is promoting the participation of the Newly Associated States (NAS) in the IST programme, so as to meet in particular the goals of the 6th Framework Programme, of the e-Europe initiative and of the European Research Area.
Objectives:
The objective of IST-Mentor is to promote the participation of Newly Associated States (NAS) in the IST programme, so as to meet in particular the goals of the 6th Framework Programme, of the e-Europe initiative and of the European Research Area.
The essence of the project is as follows: Develop, within the 7 participating NAS, a networked group of proficient IST multipliers, whose task will be to enhance building awareness in the NAS to the IST Programme and to assist potential proposers in submitting high quality proposals.
The long-term objective of IST-Mentor is to promote independent and self-sustaining IST activities in all NAS, especially towards the FP6. This will help establish a European-related RTD "culture" in the Information Technology related industrial, research and public sector establishments of the NAS.
Work description:
The NCPs from the participating NAS, with the assistance of the associated EU NCP and the EU partners, will identify candidate IST multipliers in each NAS. Each EU consultant will establish a liaison with one or more local candidate partners, in one or two of the participating NAS, offering continued bilateral tutoring and support, in collaboration with the local NCPs. The IST multipliers from the NAS will attend mentoring workshops, exposing them to FP6 and IST WP, and establishing their mode of operation. Each couple, formed of an EU consultant and one or more multipliers, will thereafter engage in a bilateral campaign, for coaching the NAS partners in the requirements of FP6 and in the modes they should adopt to facilitate assistance to local IST enterprises - and to entities wishing to adopt IST - to participate and respond to FP6 Calls for Proposals. The Consortium will assist the NAS multipliers (bilaterally and jointly) in: organisation of local mailing and phoning awareness-building campaigns (aimed at identifying potential IST developing or IST utilising entities that could benefit of FP6 projects), organisation of awareness building and dissemination Seminars and Workshops, and development of proposals for NAS entities encouraged to respond to the FP6 Calls.
Milestones:
Milestone 1: (M4.1) - Completing joint Mentoring Workshops (month 7);
Milestone 2: (M5.1) - Completing One-to-One Mentoring (month 14);
Milestone 3: (M6.1) - Completing activities towards Proposals Development (month 24).
