Objective
The objective of the trial is to verify the range of applicability and flexibility of flex foil carrier technologies with integration of electronics and sensor functionality with application to a miniaturised, flexible electrocardiograph card, able to trace an electrocardiogram (ECG) for short time and to detect health rhythm defects. Flex foil technologies will be combined with trial of biocompatible material for better adoption to the skin of user. The smart ECG diagnostic chip card will be adopted to an existing telemedicine network, using 2G/3G mobile telecommunication standards. By adopting flex-foil technology with advanced Microsystems and microelectronics to an ECG smart flex card a high reliability and stability of signal processing and transfer will be guaranteed.
Work description:
TAMAFLEC comprises the trial of a flex foil technology, including advanced microelectronics and Microsystems for a flex foil biocompatible smart ECG card, applicable to telemedicine systems via 2G/3G mobile telecommunication systems. The project will bring improved usability and user friendliness to a large variety of test equipment in telemedicine and will increase the competitive advantage of European telemedicine applications. The trial includes technology transfer steps to a telemedicine-specialised network.
The project phases for the experiment include:
- Definition of System requirements;
- Evaluation of different layout proposals;
- Verification of medical requirements;
- Implementation of a suitable design and fabrication technology;
- Development of a Process Flow for advanced flex foil technology, including Microsystems and microelectronics;
- Evaluation of functionality due to medical as well telecommunication requirements.
The TAMAFLEC project is structured in 6 workpackages, which provides individual, substantial and measurable contributions to achieve the TAMAFLEC objectives. All workpackages disseminate their results via deliverables and milestones. Major deliverables will be made available to a broad audience to support the TAMAFLEC dissemination activities in the frame of IST clusters and Take Up Service Node.
Milestones:
- Sign off of Requirements and Specification;
- Approval of Layout Proposals;
- Approval of Medical Requirements;
- Evaluation of Functionality (medical and telecommunication);
- Process Flow optimisation for Flex Foil and Microsystems technology;
- Evaluation Report.
