Distributed Advanced Fetish Network Evolution

Objective

In the European Tourism market, the opportunity to carry on transactions across multiple platforms, software services and information providers is still a distant goal, were a myriad of different technologies and standards struggle everyday to understand each other in the electronic processing of transaction. In order to change the tourism electronic distribution channel, DAFNE aims to bring to a commercial and industrial stage the already existing FETISH network technology, which links several service providers. A distributed, open source licensed, tourism services and information component repository will be the result of this take up action, integrating a critical mass of European information systems and services. Through the open consortium we will assure a broad industry support and acceptance of the proposed solutions.

Objectives:
The overall goal of DAFNE is to enhance the effects of the Fetish network results, bringing the project to an industry grade that can be exploited on the market through business and marketing actions, aimed at building up a real commercial activity.

Moreover, 4 main objectives can be established:
- the integration of Travel Spaces Network and tourism information providers in the Fetish network (which will add new elements and cover the existing lacks);
- DAFNE technology update (better installation and performance improvement, achieving a final product, tested and validated);
- transfer of Fetish & Travel Spaces technology to a specific targeted users, the information and tourism service providers (will allow to complete the product with tourism information databases and direct access for end-users): NTT, Portugal InSite and KATAWEB;
- the improvement of the integration process (between the cluster of projects and the Fetish network, so that the cluster process reaches its final stage).

Work description:
The project can be divided into 3 phases:

1. The first one, Business Target Scenario, is focused on the identification and specification of the business scenario evolution in which the DAFNE services will be deployed;
- The partnership will analyse the entrance barriers for commercial services, the risks and opportunities, the existing competitors and the results of the RTD Projects;
- we will identify the most valuable services to be commercialised and possible agreements to enlarge the impact of the services.

2. The second phase is the Integration & the Business Component Development that will allow the integration of several information and tourism service providers (TravelSpace, PortugalInsite,Kataweb) in the DAFNE trial. Then, a business component factory will be adapted to become the main operation network, enabling service to be seen as business components. These blocks can be combined together in a seamlessly way in building Value added services. This phase will allow the creation of a global communication platform for the European tourism SME that integrates research components and commercial systems in one unique market proposition.

3. The final phase is composed by Trial Validation & Quality Analysis and Results Measurement. During the validation, trial systems together with the services coming from the running project of the tourism cluster will be tested in the existing Fetish network. DAFNE will activate four nodes for accessing the services to evaluate, in real market conditions, the performance and usability of the system. All the ex post information will be analysed by crossing it with the previous one, producing a concrete measurement of the impact of DAFNE.

In order to control, support and promote the whole process, dissemination and project management activities will be carried out. Self-sustainability analysis, will produce the business cases and a marketing model needed for the business success of the initative.
